Job Description :

Our client is seeking an Underwriting Manager - UK, Mids / N Home Counties (ref: J2061) following their recent successful growth. They are looking to take this forward to the next level and present an exciting opportunity for a motivated and driven candidate with the key remit of asset finance / lease underwriting across their growing base.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Identify Leasing deals early to ensure they are funded by our client and and not another lender.
Underwrite all new Leasing deals, to include Equifax credit searches, analysis of accounts and bank statements, supplier searches, asset valuations and direct credit searches.
Analyse credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
Undertake creditworthiness analysis based on various financial and non-financial information.
Ensure all proposals adhere to AML policy.
Be open and approachable for appeal of your decisions and have the ability to see a deal when originally you may not have done so.
Be main point of contact for block discounters.
Oversee audits carried out by block discounters.
Source new block discounters.
Negotiate better rates and reduced fees from block discounters.
Negotiate increases to block discount facilities.
Implement clear credit policy.
Promote Leasing to internal sales staff.
Set lending targets and work with the Managing Director to ensure these are met.
Check all finance documents prior to pay-out and make payments.
Load new agreements onto appropriate software.
Set up direct debit mandates and trigger collection.
Produce reports to give more detail on portfolio e.g. asset types, customer industry sectors, average yield, average deal size, etc
Ensure finance documents are up to date and FCA compliant.
Liaise with internal Collections Administrator to collect missed payments.
Be flexible within the remit of the role and carry out any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

A minimum of 3 years asset finance underwriting, ideally involved in business finance (SME), is essential.
An understanding and experience of: Banking, Financial services, Leasing or Lending.
Ability to work on own initiative.
Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to initiate and sustain key stakeholder relationships to drive business growth.
Resourceful with a flexible outlook and have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities.
Competence in Microsoft Office products, XL and accounting software.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to reconcile complex accounts.
Strong analytical skills.
